Convention Program Advertisements

Gentlemen,

 

I am writing once again to seek your help in soliciting advertisements for the convention program.  We had 43 advertisements in the 2005 convention program.  Right now I have 28 - we are only down by 15 advertisements compared to last time.

 

I would like to shoot for a goal of 45 total advertisements - that means we only have 17 more to go!  I have spoken with several of you who have told me about ads they have sold but I have not received the checks or documentation yet.  Please work to get that stuff in to me as soon as you can.  The deadline is January 31st - but I would like to have everything done before then and not wait until the last minute. 

 

Yes, I know the economy is tight and folks arent spending as freely as they have in times past.  However, dont let that be an excuse - they cant tell you no unless you ask.  Shoot for some quarter page ($65) or business card size ($35) adds if you dont think you can sell the larger ones.  Ask folks you do business with; my barber, accountant, mechanic, co-workers, sunday school members and friends have all pitched in to help.

 

17 adds in 60 days is an attainable goal - pitch in and do your part to make this convention a successful fundraiser for the camp!  If everyone would sell just ONE advertisement in the next 60 days - that would be wonderful!

***PEE DEE RIFLES - REMINDERS***

***RED DOE HISTORIC MARKER DECICATION***

The Red Doe Historic Marker Dedication is THIS SUNDAY Nov 22nd at 3pm.  Please come out and support the Camp.  Local news media will be present and it is open to the public.  In the event of incliment weather - things will be moved indoors.  Please plan to attend.

 

***MEETING REMINDER***

Our next meeting is Tuesday, November 24th at 7pm at Shoneys.  This will be our last meeting at Shoneys.  Our guest speaker is Dr Christopher Amer, South Carolina State Under Water Archeologist.  He will be giving a presentation on the findings at the Mars Bluff Naval Yard and the update on the recovery efforts of the guns from the CSS Pee Dee.  Spread the word and bring a friend!

 

We also have MUCH important business to discuss. 

• We will be nominating officers for the 2010-2012 term
• We will decide on a meeting location for next year
• Camp Awards will be decided
• Convention Update

I also want to remind you that I need your help selling advertisements for the Convention Program.  I can not do this alone - PLEASE HELP!  We need to sell another $1000 in advertisements.  You can also look at this as a Camp Fundraiser.  We cant do raffles and other fund raising efforts have not been much of a success.  Use this opportunity to raise some much needed money for the Camp.  Will you help?  Please call or email if you have any questions.

I just got word that Larry Gibson was in a motorcycle accident yesterday, and he is at MUSC at Charleston, South Carolina, and has about a 50-50 chance of living and possible brain damage.

Convention Help

Gentlemen,

 

I am writing seeking your help for the convention.  We have the honor of hosting the 2010 State Convention which will kick off the Sesquicentennial Celebrations here in South Carolina.  We are nearing the 120 day mark and there is MUCH that still needs to be done. 

 

The most pressing priority right now is Program Advertisements.  We MUST sell another $1000 in advertisements.   Please contact local businesses you deal with and ask them for their support.  The Convention Program will be a magazine (8 1/2 x 11) size publication with 50-60 black/white printed pages and a full color front/back cover.  Our graphic artist can create an advertisement based off the information they provide OR we can use one they already have prepared.  This is critical - we need to get these ads sold as soon as possible.  It wont take long to reach a our target of $1000 if everyone pitches in and helps out.  I would like to see this done before our next meeting on Tuesday, November 24th.  Please help and do your part to make this a success.

 

I also want to remind to you register NOW for the convention – don't wait.  Registration for members of the Pee Dee Rifles Camp will be HALF OFF the early registration fee.  Your cost to register for the Convention is $25.00.  Please take a few minutes, fill out the form, write the check and get it to me.  Take advantage of the reduced registration fee and do an Ancestor Memorial to honor your Confederate ancestor.
