Re: Red Doe Workday

Ken ... And all of our Red Doe team.....
I just wanted everyone to know that JR Fisher and I have repaired the old Flat-bed Trailer and it will be an excellent item to move those brush piles with.... Please, we really need your help this Saturday... Even if only for a short while,,,, if everyone will contribute an hour or two of their time, we can get the place cleaned-up. We have been able to do a lot of trimming, but just have not had the man power to move the brush piles.... With the repair of the flat-bed trailer, it will not take us long to move those brush piles... But we do need your help in doing this..... We are also working on getting the water pump back in service so that we will have water at the site.....
Regards to all my "pards" and see you Saturday

Red Doe Workday

Folks...

A reminder that we have another workday scheduled out at Red Doe this Saturday, Aug. 25th.  Remember to bring your tools and water.  We will start at 8:30AM and work until the heat is too much.  We want to try and move the brush pile down away from the house so we can burn it.  Anyone with a pick-up or trailer would be a big help.

Volunteer Needed

Folks:

The Division has initiated its Graves Registration Project with the intent of catalouging all the veterans buried in the state.  Each camp has to have someone to keep up with the records and making sure copies get to the Brigade Graves Registration Officer (Steven Douglas, Manning Camp).  This is a mirror project of the one we already do for for IHQ.

If you are interested, please let me know by the August meeting.

Thanks!

Re: Reminder

Ladies and Gentlemen,

For the next several work days at Red Doe, we want to concentrate on moving all debris from the grounds to a spot in the field towards FMU where a burn was conducted in the past.  Once all the material is collected at that location we will make arrangements with the forestry service to burn it in a controlled burn.  That means if you have a pickup truck or utility trailer, then bring it with you to the work days so we can get this material ready to burn.  That will clean out a lot of debris that has collected in various spots on the site.

Once this is done, we can concentrate on cleaning up the remaining vegetation, shrubs, trees, etc.

I have found a source for 20' flag poles at $40 each.  When we decide how many we need, then I will purchase them and install the bases at the location that the BOD decides upon.

I urge you to come on as many of the work days as you can.  Our fund raising event is October 22 and we need the property to be as presentable as we can under the circumstances.

Thank you in advance for your efforts.

Reminder

Folks,

Just a reminder that Sat., Aug. 11th is a scheduled workday at Red Doe.  Everyone plan to start at 8:30AM and work till whenever.  Remember to bring your tools and lots of water.  Given the excessive heat of the last few days, I expect we will not be out long.

Thanks,

Poker Run Success

Folks, it would appear that the poker run was a complete success last Saturday.  Our hats off to the SCV Mechanized Cavalry for an outstanding job!  Thanks to everyone who came out and made it happen.  They made some very good money for their first effort, and I think they are planning to make this a yearly event.  Perhaps it will be even bigger next year.  We also did extremely well in shotgun raffle tickets.  I heard a lot of positive things about the run and Red Doe in general, so I hope we can continue on....with the Lord's blessings of course!

Re: New Pee Dee Rifles Site

Brian,

Kudos too numerous to mention to you sir.  You webmastery is outstanding.

I have one question.  If an event needs to be posted, do we send the info to you?

I am preparing a CD with the Red Doe materials on it.  On receipt of it, please give me a call and we can discuss what to put on the Red Doe location.

Keep up the great work.

New Pee Dee Rifles Site

Friends, compatriots, pards....

This is to announce the grand launch of the Pee Dee Rifles Camp #1419, SCV website.  It is a totally new site, but can be accessed from the old peedeerifles.org tab or the new www.peedeerifles.homestead.com link.  The former will bring you to "cover page" but just click on through to the site.  I urge everyone to check it out!

Camp members:  You really need to look it over and pass on your suggestions and comments.  Brian Merrill, our new webmaster, has but a lot of effort into making this YOUR site.  You can post ancestor memorials and check recent camp news.  Read over our accomplishments and see what projects we've supported and contributed to over the years.  There is a page for the WBTS Museum and a temporary one for Red Doe.  Post events and happenings.  We are in the process of having the Division and National update this link as well.

Everyone....if you would like to post an event your organization is having or if you would like to link up with us, please fell free to contact Brian.  We'd love to help you out all we can.

Enjoy!

With Warmest Regards, I am
